Control device relationships

Relationships between control devices and resources let you organize and streamline the remote control of your connected things. By creating resource control relationships, you make supported command-request and sensor-reading features available through your dashboards. Once a relationship between a control device and a resource is created, those features become available in the resource control panel.

To create a control relationship between a control device and a resource:

  1. Make sure you created the resource and you own the control device that you want to relate.
  2. Go to the resource page on Realer.
  3. From the resource page, click on under the resource name.
  4. From within the Control card in the edit resource page, click on Edit.
  5. From within the modal window that appears, search for the control device that you want to relate to the resource and click relate.
  6. Choose the privacy setting for the resource control relationship.
  7. Click Create control relationship.

Note: There are limitations on the number of control devices per resource you can relate.

To edit a relationship between a control device and a resource:

  1. Make sure the resource control relationship exists.
  2. Go to the resource page on Realer.
  3. From the resource page, click on under the resource name.
  4. From within the Control card in the edit resource page, click on Edit.
  5. From within the modal window that appears, search for the control device whose relationship you want to edit, click on and select Edit control relationship.
  6. Edit the resource control relationship.

If a dashboard card says that a control device, command, or sensor is unavailable, first check whether the control device is online, its subscription or runtime access is active, and the resource control relationship still points to the intended device.
